The Humane Society of Shelby County is a non-profit organization where every penny we take in goes back to the animals in one way or another. The money given to the shelter by the county covers only 18% of our operating cost. With Shelby County growing by leaps and bounds and over 1000 animals coming into the shelter in one month alone, making up the difference can get difficult. |

The majority of our funding comes from donations. We have several fund-raising mailings during the year, but donations are welcome at any time. Checks can be sent by mail. Donations may be made in cash, by check or through Visa and Mastercard at the shelter. In Addition, we have a "Wish List" of items that may be donated in lieu of a monetary contribution.. |

Sometimes the number of organizations asking for money can get annoying. In this case, though, it's important to remember that abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats have nowhere else to turn. Your generosity helps us help more animals!! Please stop by our shelter sometime and see how your donation is helping the unwanted and abandoned animals of Shelby County. |
